Tangos, waltzes and rags are here presented with color and flair. The accordion adds a romantic glitter; a resonant bass section adds balance. Yet this ensemble performs without consistency. The volume occasionally grows loud enough to irritate anyone who might be dancing. At other times, the playing slows down and leans too heavily on details, breaking the momentum of the music.
