CARSONIA

Paul Rosenfield should be congratulated for a truly outstanding interview with Johnny Carson (“Different From Most People: Johnny Carson Off-Camera,” July 6).
Rosenfield seemed to ask the toughest questions possible without being offensive, and Carson’s obviously candid answers must have meant he trusted Rosenfield’s professionalism.
I would question some of Rosenfield’s editorializing--”The only goal is not to slip.” How does he know?--but all in all, I have never read a more solid piece of journalism filled with more pertinent information (Rosenfield did his homework) in less space.
I was so enthralled with the interview I felt like reading as long as Rosenfield felt like writing.
