Embezzler Doomed

MOSCOW — Former Communist Party official Khalikov Khalil has been sentenced to death for embezzlement by the Supreme Court of the Soviet republic of Uzbekistan, the republic’s party newspaper said in a report that reached Moscow on Wednesday. Pravda Vostoka said Khalil embezzled state funds during the area’s 1983 cotton harvest.
