Old-Timer Uecker Gets Triple, at Last

SEATTLE — Consecutive triples by Willie Davis and Bob Uecker highlighted a four-run National League third inning as the National League defeated the American League, 7-1, in an old-timers’ game Saturday at the Kingdome.
Davis still showed some of the speed that helped him steal 398 bases during his major league career when he led off the third inning by legging out a triple on a drive off the right-field wall. Uecker, who failed to hit a triple in his seven-year major league career, managed to hit one over the head of center fielder Paul Blair.
Minnie Minoso, at 63 the oldest of the old-timers, had two hits, including a double in the fourth and final inning that brought in the Americans’ only run.
