“Anniversary.” George Jones. Epic. AAD (analog original). This generous CD contains 22 songs spanning 1972-82, only five of which failed to reach Billboard’s Country Top 10. Chart performance aside, some below-average tracks could have been left out in favor of superior non-hits. Even so, towering vocal performances like “He Stopped Loving Her Today” make this a satisfying if not indispensable collection. Note: Half the songs are indexed incorrectly because sides 2 and 3 of the double LP were transposed in the transfer.
