British to Check Cracks on Transport Aircraft

LONDON — An immediate check has been ordered on 62 Lockheed C-130 transport aircraft in service with the British air force after cracks were found in fuselages, British officials said Thursday.
The U.S.-built four-engine transports have become the force’s workhorse.
The officials said that the planes will not be taken out of service and that the cracks were not in a vital section of the airframe. The officials said seven aircraft were found to have the cracks.
