Rocky Sekorski of St. Paul, Minn., scored a technical knockout over former world heavyweight champion Leon Spinks 1:43 into the sixth round of a bout in a bar parking lot Saturday night at Detroit Lakes, Minn.
Sekorski (18-5) pinned Spinks to the ropes with a flurry of counterpunches midway through the sixth round. Referee LeRoy Benson gave Spinks a standing eight-count, and when the fight resumed, Sekorski continued on the attack. Seconds later, it was called.
“I was just waiting for him to go (down),” Sekorski said. “I never had any doubt because he was breathing hard in the first round. He never hurt me once.”
The 33-year-old Spinks (22-5-5) refused to comment after the bout.
