Troops Rout Would-Be Settlers Near Jericho

JERUSALEM — Israeli troops Thursday dispersed Jewish ultranationalists who tried to set up an illegal settlement near Jericho on the Israeli-occupied West Bank, an army spokesman said.
The militants, from the Gush Emunim (Faith Bloc) movement, halted their car when the troops fired shots into the air, the spokesman said. No one was reported injured.
