Two executives of the Mission Viejo Realty Group have been named recipients of the 1986 American Institute of Planning’s Distinguished Leadership Award. Van Stevens, vice president of the Group and senior vice president of planning and corporate affairs for the Mission Viejo Company, and Philip J. Reilly, the realty group’s president and chief executive officer, were honored for their contributions in the field of comprehensive community planning in California and Colorado.

Stevens has been in planning for 29 years and first joined the Mission Viejo Co. in 1973, when he was appointed manager of Environmental Planning. In 1974 he was named its director and two years later he became vice president, a position he held until 1983, when he was named to his current posts.

Reilly has been with the company since 1963, when he joined its first management team. In 1967 he was appointed president and headed the teams that developed portions of Orange County and Douglas County, Colorado. In 1983 he was named to his current position.
