Occupancy of the San Diego Doubletree Hotel, a $38-million joint venture by Mission Valley Associates Inc. and Phoenix-based Doubletree Inc., has been scheduled for September 1987.
The 13-story hotel will be located at 901 Camino del Rio South in Mission Bay, formerly the site of the landmark Monterey Whaling Co. and Old Ox restaurants. The Doubletree will have 356 rooms and 11,300 square feet of meeting and banquet space.
Martinez & Wong, a San Diego architectural firm, will incorporate a new Monterey Whaling Co. into the design of the 219,000-square-foot hotel. Scarlett Taylor & Associates, also of San Diego, will provide the interior design.
