Mission Beach Club Captures Rugby Title

SAN DIEGO — The Old Mission Beach Athletic Club rugby team defeated South Bay, 20-4, Saturday to win the Pacific Coast Michelob seven-a-side rugby championship at Penn Field in Paradise Hills.
The Old Mission Beach Club, the defending national champion, will represent the Pacific Coast in the national championship Aug. 30-31 in Milwaukee.
The OMBAC second team lost to Belmont Shore, 24-16, in the final of the Open Division. Thirty-two teams from Arizona, Hawaii and Southern California competed in the one-day tournament.
