Fiat was allowed to bid on defense work again.

Since last May, the Pentagon had barred the giant Fiat S.p.A. of Italy and its American subsidiaries from bidding on defense contracts because the Libyan government holds a 15% interest in the company. Although Libya retains its ownership interest, the Pentagon said Fiat agreed “to take the steps necessary to prevent profits earned on contracts with the Department of Defense from being paid to the Libyan Arab Foreign Investment Co., an agent of the government of Libya.”
