The Metro Arson Strike Team is investigating an East San Diego canyon fire that threatened a nine-unit apartment building and several houses Monday night, authorities said.
Firefighters arrived at the 4700 block of Auburn Court about 8:40 p.m. to find a fire traveling east in the canyon, a department spokesman said. A second alarm was sounded because the homes were threatened, but it was canceled as 25 firefighters gained control of the fire within 30 minutes.
There was minor damage to some fences but no injuries.
