Garden Grove : Police Dog Captures Shoplifting Suspect

A shoplifting suspect who threatened a security guard with a knife was captured Friday by a Garden Grove police dog, authorities said.

While on routine patrol, Officer Jeff Evans and his canine partner, Dino, spotted a man threatening a security officer in the parking lot of the Garden Grove Mall at 9741 Chapman Ave., Police Lt. John Baker said.

Evans chased the suspect across the street, where he warned him to halt or the dog would be released, Baker said. The suspect continued to run until Dino knocked him down in a parking lot behind the Chapman Car Wash, he said.
