Senate Passes Tax-Revenue Shift: The county Transportation Commission will get a larger share of county sales tax revenues under a bill passed by the Senate, 38 to 0, and sent to Gov. George Deukmejian. Officials of the 10-year-old transportation planning agency said they would have had to cut their staff next year without the estimated $500,000 in additional revenues the commission will receive under the bill by Sen. Marian Bergeson (R-Newport Beach). The measure reduces sales tax revenues to the county Transit District, which operates the bus system.
