Velodrome Chief Named

Carol Baker Tharp has been named director of the Olympic Velodrome on the Cal State Dominguez Hills campus. Tharp, 34, was marketing and programming director of the Hult Center for the Performing Arts in Eugene, Ore., before joining the staff of the velodrome. She was previously community relations director for Linn-Benton Community College in Albany, Ore., and did public relations for the city of Eugene. She will be scheduling cycling events as well as concerts and other entertainment for the outdoor facility, which seats 5,000 to 7,000.
