Five Simi Valley bars were cited for the misdemeanor violation of selling liquor to person under the legal drinking age of 21 during a two-day undercover operation this week, Simi Valley police said Friday.
Two 18-year-old contract employees of the Simi Valley Police Department, in an effort to curtail the sale of alcohol to minors and underage adults, visited 16 bars Tuesday and Wednesday nights, five of which sold them alcohol, said Sgt. Jim Payne.
Employees at the five bars were cited and those establishments face penalties to be imposed by the state Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control--fines or suspension or revocation of liquor licenses--Payne said.
Police said the bars cited were Pineapple Hill, Howard Johnson’s, the Elbow Room, Regency Lounge and the Inn-Between.
