Newport Beach’s Steve Bren Wins Super Vee Race

LEXINGTON, Ohio — Steve Bren of Newport Beach led from start to finish Sunday to take an 18-second victory over Scott Atchison of Bakersfield in a Super Vee auto race.

The victory was the second of the year for Bren, who won the series opener at Long Beach. The pole-sitter averaged 100.300 m.p.h. over 25 laps in his Skybird Aviation Ralt RT-5. He won $6,500.

Atchison, who spun and damaged his car during an early morning warm-up, nevertheless placed second in his Chief 7-Eleven Ralt RT-5 ahead of David Kudrave of La Canada.
