A Vista man and his wife were injured Wednesday morning when a fire erupted at their condominium. Firefighters from the Vista and Deer Springs fire departments arrived at the two-story home on Brewley Lane in Vista shortly after 4 a.m. and found it and an unattached garage engulfed in flames.
Paul Vasil, 50, suffered first- and second-degree burns on his face and right arm and smoke inhalation. His wife, Roberta, broke her right ankle when she jumped from a second-story window, the spokesman said. They were treated at Tri-City Hospital in Oceanside.
The blaze resulted in $165,000 in damage, fire officials said. The arson unit is investigating.
