BILOXI, Miss. — Dozens of people have been roaming the beach to scavenge marijuana dropped from a drug-laden plane that crashed into Mississippi Sound earlier this week, officials said Thursday. The drug runners parachuted to safety and escaped.
Officers have arrested 23 people, ages 16 to 27, on misdemeanor charges of marijuana possession, all involving small amounts that washed onto the beach, Public Safety Director George Saxon said. “It is a sad commentary on our people,” Saxon said.
