The United States defeated Cuba, 15-7, 16-18, 15-5, 15-7, advancing to the final round of four in the men’s world volleyball championship at Nantes, France.
The United States improved its record in the semifinal round to 4-0. Under the tournament format, no matter what the Americans do against the Soviet Union today, they are assured of placing at least second in the semifinal group.
