Community College Roundup : Keller’s School-Record 12 Goals Lead Orange Coast to 17-14 Water Polo Win

Eric Keller scored an Orange Coast College record 12 goals Friday to lead the Pirates to a 17-14 victory over Saddleback in a showdown of undefeated teams in Orange Empire Conference water polo action at Mission Viejo.
Keller, a sophomore from Los Amigos High School, scored four goals in the first quarter, two in both the second and third quarters and four in the fourth quarter. The Pirates (6-0, 15-1) led, 17-11, in the fourth quarter before the Gauchos (5-1, 9-1-1) scored three late goals.
In other Orange Empire League:
San Diego 18, Cypress 9--Brian Howe scored five goals for Cypress (0-6, 1-14).
In South Coast Conference water polo action:
Golden West 11, Pasadena 7--Gary Tichy scored five goals and Dave Budman added two for Golden West (5-1, 11-3).
In Irvine Invitational men’s cross-country action:
Ramon Lopez led the the Rancho Santiago men’s team to victory with an 11th-place finish. He ran 20:21 over the four-mile course for the Dons (69 points). Orange Coast (82) was second and Mira Costa (85) third.
In women’s Irvine Invitational cross-country action:
Teresa Barrios, a graduate of University High School, led Mira Costa (41) to a victory in the women’s division with a first-place time of 17:20. Harolene Walter (17:37) of Orange Coast was second overall for the second-place Pirates (52). El Camino (113) was third.
