A former Pentagon official told a House Foreign Affairs subcommittee that the question of American MIAs in Vietnam will never be resolved until Hanoi cooperates fully and U.S. teams can freely search Indochina. Retired Lt. Gen. Eugene F. Tighe Jr., former director of the Defense Intelligence Agency, who headed a panel that examined evidence on whether Americans are still being held prisoner, told the subcommittee there is “a strong possibility” some U.S. captives are still there.
