San Diego Volleyball : San Luis Obispo Defeats SDSU

San Diego State University lost its second match of the season at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo Saturday night, 16-14, 10-15, 17-19, 9-15. The loss was also the Aztecs’ second in Pacific Coast Athletic Assn. play. SDSU is 31-2 overall and 8-2 in the conference. Cal Poly SLO is 15-8 and 7-4 in the PCAA.
United States International University recovered from losing the first game of its conference match at the University of San Francisco to win, 11-15, 15-10, 15-5, 15-7. Claudia Johnson and Anita Rodriguez paced USIU with 15 kills each. The Gulls are now 13-11 overall and 4-0 in West Coast Athletic Conference play. USF is 5-17 for the season and has a conference record of 1-4.
USIU plays at UCSD Wednesday night at 7:30.
The University of Santa Clara swiftly defeated the University of San Diego, 15-6, 15-11, 15-10. Santa Clara’s Rosalynn Hartsch led both teams with nine kills. Gina Trapletti led USD with six kills. Heidi Bruning had 11 digs for the Toreros, who are now 0-13 for the season and 0-4 in WCAC play. Santa Clara is 12-14 overall and 1-4 in the conference.
