While President Reagan has asked voters to consider “Star Wars” an election issue, Democratic National Chairman Paul G. Kirk Jr. said voters are more worried in the final weeks of the campaign about the economy than Reagan’s cherished Strategic Defense Initiative. But Republican National Chairman Frank J. Fahrenkopf Jr. accused Democrats of creating a campaign furor over “Star Wars” by publicly opposing Reagan on what should be a bipartisan issue. The party chairmen appeared on ABC’s “This Week With David Brinkley,” along with Democratic political consultant David Sawyer and GOP political consultant Roger Ailes.
