Southjet overtook favored Shardari in the stretch to win the $702,500 Rothman’s International, Canada’s richest thoroughbred race, at Toronto’s Woodbine Race Track.
Southjet, ridden by Jose Santos, ran the 1 5/8-mile race in a slow 2:54.3, edging Shardari by half a length. Royal Treasurer was third.
