Reagan-Gorbachev Meeting in Iceland
No matter how much “media blitz” the Reagan Administration indulges in, the facts are obvious: The Iceland summit was a failure, and second, Ronald Reagan has never agreed to any reduction in nuclear weapons. He is the first nuclear president who has not made a nuclear agreement with the Soviets, and now he is planning to break at least one major treaty signed by a previous President.
This is a very sad, dangerous situation for us Americans and for Europeans, too, of course. We face the prospect of a thousand billion dollars spent on weapons in space, and what that means: heavy taxes and a cutback in many of the things that make life worthwhile: good schools, decent housing, funding for music and the arts, to mention a few.
We also face ever-increasing danger of nuclear war due to hotheadedness, computer error, possible insanity on the part of a world leader.
The people must insist that his madness stop.
