In South Coast Conference action:
Golden West College, the nation’s seventh-ranked community college football team, continued its best-ever start by beating Compton, 45-21, in a South Coast Conference game at Golden West.
Carl Satterfield rushed for 109 yards and 3 touchdowns to lead the Rustlers (3-0 in conference, 6-0 overall). Satterfield scored on runs of one, nine and seven yards.
Quarterback Eric Lawton completed 15 of 18 passes for 184 yards and 2 touchdowns. Golden West broke the game open in the second quarter, outscoring Compton 13-0 to lead at halftime, 27-7.
Lance Salters passed for 292 yards for Compton (0-3, 0-6.) He completed 21 of 36 attempts for 3 touchdowns but had 4 interceptions.
