$183-Million Loss for USX

PITTSBURGH — USX Corp., which is restructuring in response to a takeover threat by Carl Icahn, reported today a third-quarter loss of $183 million.
The company said a decline in energy prices and the shutdown of steel plants in an extended labor dispute were largely responsible for the loss. The company made a profit of $144 million in the same three months last year.
