CASTLE DALE, Utah — A man suspected of sawing out the center section of four telephone poles to use as corral posts was charged with theft after Emery County sheriff’s deputies said they tracked him down through a tire print.
Telephone service to the Des-Bee-Dove Mine went out during the weekend, Sheriff’s Capt. David Owens said Monday. Deputies found the bottoms of the poles sticking out of the ground and the tops dangling from the wires.
George Heininger, 39, was charged with theft and released on $2,000 bail. Deputies said an “oddball” tire print found at the scene matched the suspect’s vehicle.
