Mexico Lake Threatened

MEXICO CITY — Water lilies and waste from 15 towns are threatening the survival of Lake Chapala near the western city of Guadalajara, the government newspaper El Nacional said Monday. The lake, one of the largest in the country, is a tourist attraction and provides a large part of the water for Guadalajara, Mexico’s second-largest city.
