A judge in Rochester, N.Y., dismissed assault charges against Cory Snyder of the Cleveland Indians, who injured two spectators in an International League game May 29 when he flung his bat into the stands.
Snyder said he had intended to toss his bat toward the dugout after popping out but that it stuck to his batting glove and flipped into the stands, where Deborah Schirtz and Dorothy Matteson, both of Rochester, suffered facial injuries. The women have filed a $2.3-million civil lawsuit against Snyder.
