Six members of an “up-and-coming” Latino gang believed responsible for at least one killing and more than 20 assaults were arrested in raids on 11 homes in the Lynwood area, authorities said. A 75-officer strike team served warrants at 10 homes there and one in Encino looking for evidence and suspects in the year-long string of violent crimes attributed to the gang, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Deputy Willie Miller said. “This is a fairly young gang,” he said, “but they are up and coming--they have been very violent within the course of the year . . . they have been active.” Deputies arrested six members of the gang and recovered 14 guns and other weapons. Miller said the guns will be tested for fingerprints and ballistics to determine if they match guns used in 22 recent gang assaults, including the drive-by shooting death of a 22-year-old rival who died Sept. 19 in front of his Lynwood home.
