Guards End Strike at N. Ireland Prison

BELFAST, Northern Ireland — Guards at Northern Ireland’s main guerrilla jail returned to work Thursday after a strike that provoked a rampage by prisoners.
The guards at the top security Maze prison complex in this British-ruled province went on strike Tuesday after one of them was disciplined for sleeping at his post, officials said.
The strike ended after lengthy talks with the governor. The officer at the center of the dispute remained suspended.
