Sutherland Tops Section Water Polo Team

SAN DIEGO — Senior Doug Sutherland of champion Valhalla High School was named San Diego Section water polo player of the year.

Sutherland, who scored four goals in Valhalla’s 12-8 championship-game victory over Coronado, is joined by teammates Mike Allen and Will Schnorr on the all-section team selected by the San Diego Hall of Champions in association with the Breitbard Foundation.

Sutherland, Allen and Schnorr have been the nucleus of the Valhalla team (23-1), which has won back-to-back titles.

Others named to the first team are Matt Bokovoy of Coronado; Raul Ramalho of Mount Miguel and Eric Bockstahler and Darrian Young of University of San Diego High. Young is the only junior on the first team.
