ORANGE COUNTY PREP BASKETBALL : Girls’ Roundup : Osato Scores 26 Points to Lead Loara, 75-54

Carol Osato scored 26 points and added 7 assists as Loara High School defeated El Modena, 75-54, in the quarterfinals of the consolation round of the Brea-Olinda Tournament at Brea Wednesday.
Heidi Sorour added 15 points and and 7 rebounds and Tricia Creason had 18 points and 11 rebounds to the Saxons’ cause.
Loara is 1-2.
In other Brea Tournament games:
Orange 35, University 14--Suzette Sargeant scored 21 points and 12 rebounds and Alicia East had 11 rebounds for the Panthers (1-3).
In nonleague play:
Magnolia 48, Sunny Hills 44--Dawn Borum scored 22 points and Rena Rossoll and Katie Donica added 10 points as the Sentinels won at Magnolia (4-0).
In the Artesia Tournament:
Mater Dei 45, Valley Christian 39--Geri Gainey scored 14 points and added 5 assists for the Monarchs at Artesia.
In the Rancho Grande Tournament:
Walnut 62, Tustin 54--Janice Gonzales scored 16 points in a losing cause for the Tillers (3-2).
In the Beverly Hills Tournament:
Huntington Beach 47, Beverly Hills 43--The Oilers’ front line of Shawna Armstrong, Tami Chick and Janette Perisho combined for 41 of Huntington Beach’s points in a quarterfinal game at Beverly Hills High School. Armstrong led all scorers with 17, Chick had 14 and Perisho 10.
