Hollywood : Grants for Runaways Shelter
The city of Los Angeles has made a $25,000 grant to Options House, an emergency shelter for runaways. The grant, together with a $7,500 grant from Atlantic Richfield, will finance the six-bed facility for the next six months, according to Councilman Michael Woo.
Options House is the only emergency shelter for runaways in Hollywood. Founded in 1980, the facility provides up to two weeks of shelter for runaways and works to reunite them with their families or to find them foster homes. Over the last six months, the facility has housed 123 people.
