Local News in Brief : Worker Dies in Fall From Roof of Jail

Aman working on the roof of a Los Angeles County jail facility in Castaic accidentally fell 30 feet to his death Friday, according to the county Sheriff’s Department.
John Roger Baker, 39, of Montclair was pronounced dead at Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital in Valencia, a hospital spokeswoman said.
Baker, an employee of a Rosemead contractor, lost his balance about 11 a.m. and fell from the roof of the maximum security facility at Peter J. Pitchess Honor Rancho, Deputy Sam Jones said.
