The Justice Department said it will file a civil suit to block a $30-million takeover attempt by Rheem Manufacturing Co., the nation’s third-largest manufacturer of home water heaters, to acquire Bradford-White Corp. of Philadelphia, the fifth-largest. “If not stopped, the acquisition likely will result in homeowners being forced to pay higher prices for residential water heaters,” said a Justice Department official.
