Bell Gardens : Marquee for Area Events
After a year of fund raising, the city and the Senior Citizens Advisory Council unveiled a $16,000 marquee last week that will advertise city and community events.
The 10-foot-high illuminated sign near City Hall at Florence Avenue and Florence Place was funded by proceeds from bingo games, donations and a $3,000 contribution from the city.
The marquee, which is maintained by the Parks and Recreation Department, may be used free by nonprofit community groups in Bell Gardens, said Steve Steinbrecher, director of community services.
