Westwood Dirt Decried

Thank you for printing my comments, “Dismayed by Dirtiness of Westwood Village” (July 20). Response from Councilman Zev Yaroslavsky was immediate, and five weeks later, a response came from Elwin V. Svenson, vice chancellor of UCLA.
Both assured me that blocking off certain streets would effect an immediate cure. Wilshire Boulevard (both sides) at Glendon Avenue is a garbage dump; Selby Avenue and Wilshire have been blocked off for construction begun the last week of May and as yet still unfinished.
The theater at Westwood Boulevard and Wellworth Avenue steam cleaned the sidewalk--otherwise, Westwood Village may now be rightfully called Westwood Dump--especially after the recent art exhibit.
