The Davis, Calif.-based biotechnology company did not disclose the purchase price of Stoneville Pedigreed Seed Co., one of the country’s leading cotton seed producers. Calgene hopes, through genetic engineering techniques, to develop improved cotton seed varieties that will be marketed and distributed through Stoneville.
