Local News in Brief : Arleta Woman Held in Slaying of Husband

An Arleta woman was arrested early Saturday on suspicion of murder in the shooting death of her husband at their home, police said.
David Lee Slate, 43, was wounded in the abdomen with a shotgun about 1 a.m. Saturday and died just after 4 a.m. at Holy Cross Hospital in Mission Hills, according to Los Angeles police.
Police said Betty Slate, 41, was arrested at her home in the 13600 block of Muscatine Street and was being held at Van Nuys Jail.
Police said two minor children were released to a friend of the family. They said they did not know what led to the fatal confrontation.
