US Sprint, the nation’s third-largest long-distance carrier, said it will be the subcontractor in the bid of Electronic Data Systems Corp., a General Motors subsidiary, for a 10-year, $4.5-billion contract to provide telecommunications services for 1.3 million federal workers. No. 2 MCI already is aligned with Martin Marietta, while No. 1 AT&T; has teamed up with Boeing Computer Services in the competition for the big federal contract.
