Washington-based USAIR Group posted lower profit on increased revenue for 1986, compared to the 1985 year. After a weak first six months, the second half of the year was very strong, with traffic up 20.5% and operating income up 84.4%, compared to the same period of 1985, a spokesman said. Net income for 1986 was lower than for 1985, principally the result of a higher tax provision reflecting the application of the new tax law, and because of lower interest income, he added.
