UC Irvine Women Win, 73-49

UC Irvine’s women’s basketball team defeated San Jose State, 73-49, Saturday night in a Pacific Coast Athletic Assn. game in the Bren Center.
Zalina Walton led Irvine with 21 points, 20 in the first half. Cheryl Ailand added 17 points and 10 rebounds.
Johnnie Thomas led the Spartans with 16 points and 8 rebounds.
The Anteaters improved to 4-2 in conference and 8-8 overall. San Jose State dropped to 1-6 and 3-12.
Chapman 71, Cal State Los Angeles 66--Forward Valarie Hartsfield scored a season-high 27 points to lead Chapman (3-1, 10-8) to a 71-66 victory at Orange.
