Man Held in Bombing Attempt Is Out on Bond

SEATTLE — Silas Trim Bissell, 44, a former fugitive charged in an attempted bombing of a University of Washington ROTC building 17 years ago, was freed Thursday on bond.
Bissell, who also is charged with assaulting a police officer in a 1969 war protest, was ordered freed from King County Jail by Superior Judge John Darrah.
Bissell, who had worked since 1981 as a physical therapist in Eugene, Ore., was arrested there on Jan. 20. He is to stand trial here March 31 in U.S. District Court.
