Former Moorpark City Councilman Danny Allen Woolard was sentenced to six months in prison for embezzling $5,500 from the post office branch at which he worked. Woolard, 39, pleaded guilty Jan. 12 in Los Angeles federal court to stealing the money from his cash drawer at the Moorpark Post Office last year. Woolard, who has resigned from the council, said he took the money to support a cocaine habit. U.S. District Judge Manuel L. Real also ordered Woolard to perform 2,000 hours of community service and serve five years’ probation.
