AFI FILM FEST: A WINDOW ON SOME FAR SHORES : FRIDAY

“Hard Asphalt” (Norway, 1986, 5:30 p.m.). The Norwegian Oscar entry centers on a young “druggie” couple living on the fringes of society. The drama is played with all stops pulled out as sex, violence, alcohol, crime and the like conspire to destroy the relationship and lives of the principals. Director Solve Skagen creates something akin to “Romeo and Juliet on Junk” with all the nutrition the last word implies--a solid case for abstinence in all its forms.
All AFI Film Festival of Los Angeles events will take place at the Los Feliz Theater, 1822 N. Vermont Ave., Hollywood, unless otherwise noted. Tickets are available at Ticketron, Teletron and at the box office one hour before showtime. Information: (213) 520-2000 , 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
