Black tie isn’t just for parties anymore--TV newsreaders for the British Broadcasting Corp. will now wear them when reading somber stories. The BBC bought the outerwear after executives decided that brightly patterned ties on newsreaders were “inappropriate” for such stories. That decision came during a rehearsal for a show to be aired upon the death of the Queen Mother, Queen Elizabeth--who, at 87, continues to enjoy good health.
